Nigel Robinson
One of the signatories to the Estelle Morris letter Nigel Robinson was then described as doing post-doctoral research, University of Leicester (and then currently teaching chemistry). It is understood that Robinson has since taken early retirement and is now working part-time for the Day One Christian Prison Trust.
Our research has brought up little information on his person. This is all we have that refers to a creationist called Dr Nigel Robinson: http://www.daylightcpt.org/news.html (see also http://www.evangelical-times.org/ETNews/May06/May06n22.htm).
Answers in Genesis’s Philip Bell has spoken at Dudley Baptist Church in the West Midlands. Robinson appears to be very closely associated with this church.
Robinson appears to be very actively involved with the Daylight Christian Prison Trust.
Interestingly the second URL given above mentions one Gerard Chrispin who is head of Daylight Christian Prison Trust. The trust states that it is independent but works closely with the Day One prison ministry. Day One is the renamed Lord’s Day Observance Society. Chrispin appears to head up both prison organisations.
Gerard Chrispen's name also crops up as being involved in Truth in Science.
Day One Publications, the publishing arm of the organisation, publishes creationist books amongst others.
We received the following email from Robinson on 20th december 2000:
"My name is Nigel Robinson. I have recently discovered my name on your web site. I am offended by statements which are untrue regarding my motives in wanting intellegent design debated in schools. All I want is for pupils to be exposed to an alternative view instead of them being brainwashed into the belief that Evolution is the only scientificly viable view.
I can just as easily say that there is no actual experimental proof for evolution - only speculative ideas as to a mechanism which could have led to the origin of life and subsequent species"
"A plausible mechanism is not proof, I could propose a mechanism for how an innocent man could have murdered someone but in court of law it would not constitute proof."
"I am an honest scientist and belive whole heartedly in the following statement"
"... the tools for everyone to think for themselves - Science, Education and Reason - and the outcome – Democracy, Pluralism, Freedom and Righteousness."
I think you should recognise the words!"
"I am not sure that you believe them"
"Yours sincerely"
"Nigel Robinson"
