Evangelical Times
The Evangelical Times is a monthly newspaper for British Evangelicals published in print form in the North East of England. Older copies are also available on the publications web site. It claims to have around 40,000 readers (note that this is not the same as circulation).
The newspaper appears to be very sympathetic towards creationism although many evangelicals do not accept the sort of YECer stuff being pushed in the newspaper. It’s pro-creationist standpoint though, is no doubt explained by the fact that two of its three trustees – Edgar Andrews and Willis Metcalfe - are know YECers. In the case of Andrews, very well known. He was head of the Biblical Creation Society. Andrews is editor of Evangelical Times.
Metcalfe, who is in his mid-80, has also been involved in Truth in Science organisation. Unitil early 2006 he was interim chairman of TiS. Metcalfe is believed to have helped set up and financed Evangelical Times. It was founded in 1969.
Andrews and Metcalfe are both shareholders and directors of Evangelical Times.
It is registered at the Charity Commission as number 258927. Its revenues for 2005 totalled £184k when it made a small loss of £10k. However. Evangelical Times is very closely linked to Evangelical Press which is a substantially larger organisation with an annual turnover of approximately £1m.
