Bill Worraker

Bill Worraker was one of the 27 signatories to the Estelle Morris letter and has a long track records as a creationist activist. He is closely associated with Genesis Agendum and the Biblical Creation Society. He as also written for Answers in Genesis’s technical journal (see “The Milky Way Galaxy: young at heart?” TJ volume 19, issue 1, April 2005 – also TJ Volume 18, Issue 2, April 2004 on Missing: a source of short-period comets. There have been a number of other papers from Worraker in the TJ as well).

However, Worraker is not, as far as we know, an academic. At the time of signing the Estelle Morris letter he was working for a private company (as senior software development engineer for Hyprotech). He holds a PhD in applied maths from the University of Bristol.

Worraker is also known as John Worraker (his full name is believed to be William John Worraker). It was with this name that he appears on the Discovery Institute’s “list” of scientists who expressed “scepticism” about the theory of evolution.

Worraker appears to be very well known in the amateur astronomy fraternity. However, as a YEC, we are unsure how his work there is regarded by other astronomers. This reference appears to indicate quite a lot of hostility against positions that he takes: http://www.bautforum.com/archive/index.php/t-4512.html
