BCSE Research
Members of the BCSE have many years’ experience of anti-creationist activism behind them and have produced a considerable amount of background research on the creationist movement.
In general much of the material on this web site has been specifically produced for it.
We have approached the issues by focusing on the key players and organisations and their finances to provide what we hope is a comprehensive database of creationism in the UK. We have concentrated on what we believe are the most senior activists in the movement.
As far as we are aware, there is no such public source of information available elsewhere on the Internet. We hope that you will find it to be (frequently) original research. We also hope that it is a major and comprehensive source of intelligence on the creationist movement.
We feel particularly proud that we have some precise indications as to the size and organisation of the activist end of creationism in British universities and its links to creationist organisations.
Our conclusions are that the creationist movement in the UK is still small but very well organised and increasingly influential. The movement is determined, with intelligent and well-educated leaders, methodical and systematic in proselytising on a widespread basis and heavily dependent on American skills and management techniques.
The movement also lies and deceives, of necessity, habitually and repeatedly.
At any one time, we are usually undertaking research in the background, which may be posted to the web site.
If anyone would like to contribute to ongoing or new research we would, of course, be delighted. You can contribute directly to our Yahoo Group or by email. Our research is based on a wide variety of sources and techniques ranging from searches on Internet, letters, contributions to our Yahoo group, meetings, visits, monitoring the press, interviews and so on. In essence, it is an intelligence gathering operation.
At present we are particularly interested in the extent of acceptance of creationism in the Church of England. We have been very surprised to its extent within the CofE and believe it to be a growing, and major, problem for the organisation.
We are also very keen to find out where creationism is being taught in state-schools and loopholes in both the National Curriculum and the syllabus’s of examination bodies which are being exploited by creationists.
And, finally, all of our information on creationism in the UK needs to be consistently and frequently updated. So if you have further information on what is already on this site, please let us know.
You can contact us either through our forum or through email.
Media Enquiries
We are always ready to assist national and local media in the UK with background information. You can contact us through email or by phone at 07724 938890. We are happy to accept calls out of hours as well as during the normal working day.
Links to Other Sites and Anti-Creationist Organisations
There is a vast amount of information on Internet about the creationist movement in the USA. We have included pointers to this as we are concentrating on the position in the UK.
Likewise you will find there comprehensive and well organised web sites and forums such as Talk Origins and Panda’s Thumb which pull to pieces creationists views on science. We have not felt it worthwhile to reinvent the wheel, so the site provides links to such groups rather than restating their arguments.
